Passports, visa, laws, and intergovernmental agreements almost inevitably play parts in friendships and relationships of love conducted across continents and state boundaries. Intense political (or, for that matter, pandemic) situations may result in couples or co-workers not seeing each other for longer periods of time. Loving people are separated by displacement or migration, not knowing whether, or when, they will see each other again. What happens when relationships are mainly based on absence and a lack of shared experiences?
