west off & Freischwimmen

You now have the opportunity to get acquainted with up-and-coming artists from North Rhine-Westphalia and the world at the FFT! For three days in December, we are going to present new positions in choreography, performance, and physical theatre, looking at a world in transformation with the makers. Experience idiosyncratic artistic resistance strategies, and maybe even some answers to these questions: Is it possible to be a feminist when you are also a man? Is it okay to dance to music with lyrics that glorify violence? Where do I find touch when all people do everywhere is on only zoom and tap?
The line-up consists of choreographer and performer Ido Grinberg with A Society of Screens, performer Milena Cestao Kolbowski with Ay Papi Ay Mami, David Martínez Morente with Richard III oder CR7istiano, performer and singer Alex Franz Zehetbauer with An Evening with as well as performance network Sterna | Pau with Trolllike.
The FFT nourishes longstanding connections to artists in Düsseldorf, in Germany, and throughout the world. But how does a new work enter the repertoire? The west off and Freischwimmen programmes play an important part in this. west off lends support to new groups from North Rhine-Westphalia just starting out on the independent scene. The network provided by Freischwimmen works in a very similar way – on an international level, and it has been doing that for the past 20 years.
