Marlin de Haan

director, sculptor

Marlin de Haan, Düsseldorf-based director and sculptor, realises theatre works, performances, and films, devises stage spaces, and presents exhibitions and performative interactions in varying working constellations with other artists, in theatre, art, private or public spaces. She was an assistant director at Schauspielhaus Bochum from 2000 until 2004 and followed this with her sculpting studies at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Professor Rosemarie Trockel between 2009 and 2014. Her works were shown at Schauspielhaus Bochum, FFT Düsseldorf, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt, theaterimballsaal Bonn and Bomontiada Alt in Istanbul and elsewhere, while she received invitations to festivals such as “Favoriten”, “Freischwimmer” and “WildWest” and exhibited at places like the “Manifesta 9” in Genk/ Belgium, at “Kunsthalle Düsseldorf” and at “Kunstverein Schwerte”. Marlin de Haan received the Artist Support Award of the City of Düsseldorf in 2019. She teaches workshops nationally and internationally (at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts; Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar University, Istanbul; Maletepe University, Istanbul; Beykent University, Istanbul). She taught within the framework of the Christoph Schlingensief Lectureship at the Ruhr University Bochum during the 2021 summer semester, at the Dramatics and Scenic Research Faculty.
