Datscha

Performance Social/Urban Movements Theatre & Performance

Where are those shared escapes from everyday life, where are those divergent ideas of community? At the edge of the city, between the pony farm, the motorway, and the emergency shelter, there lies the Datscha. One of the last remaining Düsseldorf oases, developed by self-styled “city dwellers”.

Director and visual artist Marlin de Haan and her team abduct the audience to this special place that signifies a piece of nature within the city, legendary parties, and togetherness of children and grown-ups. What is taking place there? Something between a happening and an installation, backstage and stage.
