Gabriel Carneiro
Gabriel Carneiro was born in Barbacena, Brazil, in 1990. He has been working in the fields of theatre and performance since 2006. In 2018, he graduated from the Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei in theatre studies (both as a bachelor and in teacher training). He followed an exchange semester at the Brunswick HBK as well as an internship at the State Theatre afterwards. Additionally, he studied for a master’s degree in scenic research at the Ruhr University Bochum.
Gabriel Carneiro works as an actor, directs, develops theatre plays and scenic events, artistic interventions, short films, and performances. He thereby explores possible modes of unfolding artistic formats between theory and practice. Having resided in the Ruhr Area since 2019, he has been developing performative and scenic works such as “A sacrificial system” (Rottstr5 Kunsthallen, director: Claudia Bosse) and “Mapping of affections” (Kunsthaus Essen). As a student, he was among the organisers of the 2021 edition of the Moving Residency Trampolin at Künstlerhaus Dortmund.
