Super Night Shot is a magical journey through Düsseldorf. German-British performance collective Gob Squad celebrates unplanned meetings with strangers and the randomness of urban life. Super Night Shot transforms everyday banality into blockbuster glitz and glamour – as funny as it is moving.

Film shooting begins exactly one hour before we watch the result at the theatre. Four Gob Squad performers meet, equip themselves with video cameras, starting to record simultaneously. Then, they fan out into the city. Their goal: Declaring war on anonymity. They regroup at the theatre, watching the traces of their nightly encounters with the audience, in a wide screen film format.

Gob Squad have been working on the intersection of theatre, art, media, and everyday life since 1994. Super Night Shot has been performed almost 200 times since its 2003 premiere. The piece remains as fresh, dangerous, and exciting as it was at the time of its premiere 20 years past.

In cooperation with Theatermuseum Düsseldorf. Visit the Gob Squad installation “Elephants in Rooms” there from March 25th until May 7th.
