MOBILE ANT!FOTO BAR
Forms of Publication for Photography
Ausstellung Digital Culture Social/Urban MovementsThe ANT!FOTO Bar emerges from the exhibition and event series ANT!FOTO that Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber have been curating by in Düsseldorf since 2010. It views itself as a space for exchange and discourse about the various “physical states” of photography, with an emphasis on the photobook, as a meeting point for several photography protagonists – following the example set by small themed Japanese bars.
The ANT!FOTO Bar has been around since 2021 – a transportable space that may be installed for individual evenings at different venues for a number of different themes. Following stops at Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf, Kunstverein Bielefeld, and the Sprengel Museum in Hanover, the bar will now open for one evening at the FFT on the occasion of the Photo+ Festival.
Following the “Fotografie als Politik der Bilder (Photography as Image Politics)” discussion on image politics, Stuke/Sieber will provide a selection of books, some of them out-of-print, to sample and discuss. Various photobooks, catalogues or even own maquettes between Paris and Tokyo, Cairo and Hong Kong, Europe and the USA invite the audience to continue the conversation on photography and political streams of images. The guests are invited and called upon to bring their own books or other interesting publications.
