HIPPE SIPPE

Performance Young FFT Theatre & Performance

Papa, papi, palm tree, a paintbox, and a pan. Or is it mama, mami, the mouth organ, and godmother? Or mother, father, the bathtub, the cuddly toy, and friends? Who, all things considered, is part of the family? Family is many things. Family can do many things. Celebrate festivities, provide consolation, making you think or laugh. In ‘Hippe Sippe’, four humans decide to become a family. Everybody is bringing something else to the table. They relish their quarrels, they dance, fool around, and they dismiss everything, time and again. ‘Hippe Sippe’ broaches the issue of the broad variety within families, for children and adults alike, while expanding the traditional notion of family. Going beyond convention, ‘Hippe Sippe’ gleefully deals with queerness, diversity, and determined agency.
