Mithu Sanyal is an award-winning author, broadcaster, and cultural scholar. She works in the fields of gender, race and sexualities.
She has received the Dietrich Oppenberg Media Award from Stiftung Lesen three times for her radio plays and features mainly for WDR. Otherwise, work for various broadcasters and newspapers, such as BR, SWR, Deutschlandfunk, Bundeszentrale für Politische Bildung, DIE ZEIT, MISSY Magazine, SPEX, Konkret, Vice, etc.
She had a regular column in the taz until 2019.
In 2009, her cultural history of the female genital vulva was published by Wagenbach Verlag, new edition in 2017.
