Ingo Toben
Ingo Toben, stage director, lives in Düsseldorf. He studied German philology and media studies (M.A.) at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. Directed works at Schauspiel Wuppertal, FFT Düsseldorf, Theater Bielefeld, and Staatstheater Mainz. 2003 Support Award for Performing Arts awarded by the State Capital of Düsseldorf. He has been compiling experimental live formats with children and youths at FFT Düsseldorf since 2007. Together with an interdisciplinary team of artists, he develops stagings that change between performance, concert, storytelling, film, and installation. Ingo Toben perceives the performers in his projects to be authors. Improvisation and research are among the central forms of an extended understanding of the performer, prompting children and youths to strike out in new directions within artistic practice. The productions were invited to Theatertreffen der Jugend (Berliner Festspiele 2008 and 2011), to the YoungStar-Fest and Master of the Universe-Kongress at Kampnagel (Hamburg 2009, 2011 and 2014) as well as to the 2010 Favoriten Festival in Dortmund.
Ingo Toben makes short films, does research into the artistic narration of primary school children, and teaches Cultural Education at Hochschule Niederrhein.
