Willie Stark

Wombs of revolution

Performance Social/Urban Movements Theatre & Performance

Dance is resistance, dance is empowerment, dance is political! Willie Stark’s performance deals with violence against women. Together with three performers from the genres of urban dance, house, contemporary dance, and traditional dances of the African diaspora, she works with anger, empathy, love and understanding. Powerful and clever, Wombs of Revolution is a statement against social constraints and oppression, simultaneously issuing a call for resistance and solidarity.

Willie, Lisa, Laura and Yasmine are a group of four interdisciplinary performing artists from a variety of artistic backgrounds that encompasses urban dances with house dance and breaking, contemporary techniques as well as traditional cultural dances from the African diaspora. Through choreography and embodied practice, we develop expressive concepts that provide form to movements, speech, music, and thoughts. The work of the sound artist deals with sound and media. Using analogue devices and programming software, Fallon creates imaginary soundscapes and audio narrations. These works are equal parts performance, installation, and radio project
