Rotterdam Presenta

Performance Social/Urban Movements Theatre & Performance

A synthetic layer pervades museums and stage floors, the economy, and politics: Rotterdam Presenta stage plastic as an icon throughout art, pop culture, and day-to-day life. E.P.I.C. is an acronym for “EXPLORING PLASTIC INEVITABLE CONCERT”. The title describes the conflation of plastics with our social and cultural lives. It also refers to an event series initiated by Andy Warhol during the 1960s – exactly the period in which plastic reached its ultimate ascent to become the queen of all materials. E.P.I.C. celebrates the last extensions of this material hype as a mighty protagonist on this planet – before it decomposes into particles, then to retire on the ocean floor.
