WEST OFF 2024

Nothing is as it seems: Welcome to west off 2024 – the platform for young regional art. Three performances, three disenchantments, three eye-catchers from Bonn, Düsseldorf, and Cologne. They all use theatre to unmask, to expose, and to make uncomfortable truths heard. Unbaked Collective’s Herdengeflüster is a physical theatre performance about sexualised physical ascriptions and puberty from a female perspective. Performance collective Hanni&Anni wants to be Einmal mit Profis arbeiten (Just for once working with professionals *), which it fails to do – very professionally and with lots of humour. A deceptive honouring to glittery show confetti is brought on in Thaddäus Maria Jungmann’s solo musical *The M-Pet, because that stuff is beautiful, but not one bit sustainable.

The west off artists will receive accompaniment by mentors Marie-Lena Kaiser, Lisa Lucassen, and Olympia Bukkakis. The productions will be carried out by Theater im Ballsaal Bonn, FFT Düsseldorf, and studiobühneköln. In Düsseldorf, the programme will be complemented by Die Nacht in der wir Männer wurden by S.Rudat & das (i)dentityteam.
