Webscapes
Sound Festival Music & Sound
How may we approach the internet’s virtual spaces from a musical perspective, reflect its dynamics and structures sonically or employ its data streams for compositions?
The Recorded Sound Festival seventh edition, with its thematic focus on “Webscapes”, presents electronic audio productions that gauge and survey the internet’s fabric of digital space acoustically, exploring its musicality.
On the large sound space of Stage I, an acousmatic environment is created that, for the most part, renounces visual stimuli, inviting the visitors to completely concentrate on listening. In all, ten audio productions will be presented in both multichannel as well as in stereo formats which will subsequently be awarded prizes from a professional jury and from the audience, as well.
Apart from its thematic focus, the free category shows a wide variety of electronic and electroacoustic music, ranging from musical compositions via soundscapes and sonic collages to experimental works as well as narrative audio formats and technoid productions.
