GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE

Talks Talks & Workshops Social/Urban Movements

In the run-up to the elections, considering a worrisome increase in nationalist, authoritarian, and discriminating tendencies within Germany’s political landscape, artists and cultural workers have joined together and issued an invitation to a general assembly. An assembly for the preservation of a pluralist, vibrant society and a progressive arts and culture scene where one can talk, refer, discuss, reflect, demand, and listen. The programme of this two-day event will be collectively shaped by all the participants.

The Programme in Essen

On Friday, we will host a large-scale gathering of concrete knowledge on courses of action and organisation, aesthetic and social forms of resistance and effectiveness as well as on practices of affirmation and love – for an open and just society, for the beautiful life.

The Programme in Düsseldorf

Saturday will be marked by action and start at FFT Düsseldorf. Following a summary of the previous day’s events, the assembly will try out subversive forms of action from the arts and from political practice: Painting placards, rehearsing chants, writing spontaneous speeches, standing protest, as well as many more. Of course, this will not go ahead without snacks and coffee. At 4 pm, we will head for the city.

The General Assembly for the Beautiful Life is a self-organised and informal event in which all participants will simultaneously be contributors. With combined forces, we will create most accessible, solidary and joyful space-times. There will be food and high spirits. From accessibility to whisper translations to intolerances – all pointers on support needs or care skills are helpful and welcome.
