Thaddäus M. Jungmann

THE M-PET

Performance Social/Urban Movements Theatre & Performance

It kills us slowly, yet it is still beautiful: metallised polyethylene terephthalate, also affectionately called glitter. In this performance by Thaddäus Maria Jungmann, fifty kilograms of metallic confetti emancipate themselves from their image as a beautiful illusion as well as their effect function in musicals and shows. Now the confetti machines no longer shoot glamour but the unfiltered truth: The glitter particles reveal themselves as an ugly epidemic of our late-stage capitalist consumer culture. What happens to the sparkling moments in life when we must admit to ourselves that we can no longer produce small snippets of beauty from fossil fuels?
