Rückkehr der Königstöchter (Return of the Kings’ Daughters)
Live-Radio Play Music & Sound Theatre & Performance
During the 30-hour THESMOPHORIA performance, kainkollektiv presents RÜCKKEHR DER KÖNIGSTÖCHTER (Return of the Kings’ Daughters). Together with the cosmic sisters, they open a sound space in the form of a walk-in audio play that undertakes to make audible the stories and songs of those forgotten “kings’ daughters” which our white, male-dominated civilizational history has erased since antiquity.
In an acoustic-musical sound landscape, the voices, narratives, personal statements and soundscapes from cultures that were wiped out through Western colonial history appear in an (Afro)futuristic and docu-fictional counter-journey through times and spaces.
Medea’s cosmic sisters are artists from South Africa (ANNALYZER), Cameroon (ALIMA), Iran (9T ANTIOPE aka Sara Bigdeli Shamloo & Nima Aghiani), Canada/Germany (Vanessa Chartrand Rodrigue), and Greece (Lydia Polyzoi). Between pop and opera, indigenous chants and electro, they develop “Songs of Future Care” together. They invite the listening public in a 3D soundscape to liquefy their own echo chambers and, in an acoustic conjuring of ghosts and the dead, get to the sounding bottom of the question that always surfaces at the beginning as well as in the further development of colonial heritage at the horizon: WHO OWNS HISTORY? – And whose recollection counts?
