Me & Mithu

Mithu Sanyal is not only a journalist, cultural scholar and author of noteworthy books Vulva and Identitti. She is also a musician. She has already performed at FFT numerous times, together with Matti Rouse (Monkeys With Tools, Heavy Gummies, Black Airoplanes), most recently as part of her performance “Hello Good-Bye” in 2023. Now, they release their first album as duo Me & Mithu. We are looking forward to celebrating the release of Stories with a live concert at FFT!

Me & Mithu describe their musical style as Gothic Folk, sonically situating it in poetic Albion, Great Britain’s name before the arrival of the Roman Empire. A redwood tenor guitar, two voices, a mellow yet full bass stompbox and a perpetual organon – with Me & Mithu, Albion sounds like Americana, only more ancient. A little magical, with a pulse of dark, warm depths.
