Leonce und Lena
A comedy after Georg Büchner
Theatre Theatre & Performance
Leonce und Lena are supposed to be wed in an arranged marriage. They flee to Italy, undetected and independently of each other. There, they meet, do not recognise each other, and fall into undying love. Back home, the royal retinue must plan a wedding while the bridal couple remains untraceable. Until arriving at a happy ending, Büchner’s comedy takes many adventurous turns. Senior citizen’s theatre SeTA approaches this classic with hip hop and teenage slang in a reworking by its new director Nicola Glück. In it, the ensemble looks back on the love story in retrospect.
