as part of The Argonause

18.05. – 30.05.2026

Travel signifies adventure, the desire for the unknown, a longing for the world. At the same time, we are acutely aware of the destructive effects of mass tourism on climate and environment. We are dedicating a monthly programming series in different formats to this topic: The FFT, together with Chez Company, is embarking on an excursion that invites you to a simultaneous exploration of the beginnings of tourism as well as climate-neutral opportunities that symbolise a new, responsible desire to travel.

The starting point: Rhine meadows. Our communal hero’s journey begins, of course, on the Rhine: We want to introduce our imaginary vessel to the waterways in the quest for the transformative grail. And that means ship christening, launching and departure all in one!
We present the project and the fellow travellers: Why assess the carbon footprint; what does it imply for one’s own mobility? The first travelogues will be performed together with you, and rituals will be developed: What does it take for such a voyage? What do we take with us, what do we leave behind? Do we have a common language, a mission, a fear, a drive? The song of travel longing – captain, take us on the journey – supported by Düsseldorf choirs, underscores the imaginary departure – as does, of course, the Argonause anthem. In a year from now, we will emerge from the floods again here. Changed? Hopefully!
