Tender fabric caresses swiveling hips, soft giggling fills the room. The movements are effortless, the gazes flirtatious, yet a vague discomfort spreads. Unbaked Collective deals with girlish physicality and the desire to please and appeal at any cost. Because sexualised signals inscribe themselves into the socialisation of female children. In Herdengeflüster, choreographers Laura Louise van Meurs and Viviane Hamm scrutinise the ascriptions from their childhoods, reversing the perspective, and they ask: Who are we behind frills and ribbons? The performance will be shaped musically by Daniel Ismaili’s delicate melodies and driving drums.
