“Courageous, accomplished, and special,” is the Frankfurter Rundschau’s verdict about Hengameh Yaghoobifara’s quasi-chamber play novel “Schwindel”. At the centre are four persons who are bound to each other in polygamous relations. When they accidentally lock themselves out on the roof a Berlin house, there is no escaping the relationship mess they are in. The aspiration to, ideally, negotiate conversations devoid of any harmful wording and to perceive language not as an instrument of domination is put to a strenuous test. With a very precise gaze upon language and cliché, with loads of humour, Hengameh Yaghoobifara describes the poly-relationship between Ava, Robin, Delia, and Silvia that proves a “complete disaster”.
Hengameh Yaghoobifarah is active in both journalism as well as in literature, working for Missy Magazine, SPEX, an.schläge, taz, and others.
