Gemeinsam gegen Verdrängung (Together against eviction)

The housing market has been undergoing a deep, years-long crisis by now. The lack of affordable housing is particularly worsening. While hardly any new housing gets built, the existing housing stock continues to lose affordable living space: Because council housing drops out of rent control faster than new housing is erected, and because tenants are forced to move out due to rent increases and ancillary costs, construction projects as well as through intimidation and outright mobbing.

How can tenants strike back? What is to be achieved in this way? What needs to change in the political landscape? In the “Gemeinsam Gegen Verdrängung” talk series, organised by the Bündnis für bezahlbaren Wohnraum, we consider alternatives together.
