Fifty Fifty presents: Zirkus Upsala

This performance is created by children and teenagers—young artists between 8 and 17. They come from different places and sometimes, they speak different languages—but through this performance, they found a shared space to move, dream, and create together.
Fäden is about connection. About the invisible threads that tie us to each other and to the world around us. Some of them support us. Some hold us back. But all of them tell a story.

Fäden

Fäden is a circus performance that reflects how young people perceive and interact with the world around them. The threads in the performance are more than stage props—they are metaphors for ideas, relationships, memories, and hopes. Threads from the mouth, threads from the heart, threads in hands. The performers give these threads a voice. They tune them, pull them, twist them into rhythms and melodies, creating an emotional and visual experience that speaks directly to the audience.
Through circus, movement, and playful experimentation, we have created a performance full of colour, meaning, and emotion.

Suitcases

What lived experiences do you carry in your suitcase? Suitcases is a collection of short stories told through physical theatre and contemporary circus, where three artists explore the migration experience through acrobatics, contact juggling, and dance. Created by the Upsala-Circus team, this performance transforms personal stories of relocation into a universal statement about finding home and accepting change.

Through artistic images and circus metaphors, the performance creates a space where both local residents experiencing changes in their cities and migrants seeking a new home can live through and feel each other’s experiences. The artists transform their lives’ experiences into powerful imagery, asking: „What will I find in my suitcase, and will it help me continue my journey in this new world, or will it leave me frozen in place, waiting?“
