Morgen werde ich nicht sein ... (I will not be tomorrow ...)

Theatre Social/Urban Movements Theatre & Performance

The words “I will not be tomorrow…” are taken from the farewell letter Jewish poet Ilija Britan (1885-1942) sent to his son, Alexander. Britan lived as a refugee in Berlin until 1936; he was shot in the Drancy concentration camp near Paris in 1942. At the heart of this eponymous piece are the fates of seven Russian-Jewish refugees active in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s who went into exile due to the growing antisemitism of the NS regime. The piece is based on letters and archival materials which the author, social scientist and theatre maker Elena Solominski found in New York between 1996 and 2018.

The performance takes place in memory of Dr. Elena Solominski. She died on 3 June 2024, after an explosion in the apartment building where she lived. She was 61 years old. Until her death, she organised a holiday project for children and youth from the Ukraine, together with the FFT, the Jacob Teitel Akademie, and Kibbuz e.V.
