DIE SCHÖNE MAGELONE (BEAUTIFUL MAGELONE)

after Ludwig Tieck and Johannes Brahms

musical theatre Music & Sound Theatre & Performance

Die schöne Magelone – Johannes Brahms‘ only song cycle – becomes a multi-layered play and game about love, everyday life, and role models. What remains when the intoxication of infatuation fades into to the rhythm of everyday life? Peter and Magelone experience the ups and downs of a partnership caught between romantic idealism and modern reality.

With emotional depth and a keen sense of emotion, the production focuses on the everyday challenges of closeness, expectation and mutual responsibility – and puts traditional role models to the test. The text version was written by author and director Robert Zeigermann who also staged the evening together with his set design team.
