Substage aims to materialise a temporary club space in the foyer of Düsseldorfs FFT. This edition showcases a heterogeneous and progressive club-sound.

What artists wear on stage needs to fit – the piece performed as well as the performers’ bodies. This making of shows how costumes and designer collections mutually influence each other. Designer Marion Strehlow has been creating the costumes for Maura Morales’ works for quite some time now. During the conversation at the bar, she will talk about this collaboration.

“Freischwimmen” has been creating sustainable structures in which young artistic talent in the performing arts may develop. Yet, the programme was not selected to receive further funding support. On the occasion of the anniversary coming up next year, and with a fighting spirit for the network’s continued existence, the publication 20 Jahre Freischwimmen (20 Years of Freischwimmen) will be presented.

Loosely based on the character of Richard III and an imaginary friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo, the performer starts a journey through various genres within the performing arts, between outdated role models, utopian ideas, feminist positioning, and allyship.

A singing pianist invites the audience to a date with a wide-ranging variety of musical genres.
