48 Hours Puppet Film Challenge

Film Talks & Workshops Theatre & Performance
Drei puppenartige Gesichter mit großen beweglichen Augen und sichtbarer Mechanik schweben vor schwarzem Hintergrund; die Augen sind mit Zahnrädern und Technik verbunden und wirken lebendig und leicht surreal.

48 hours. No sleep. And the puppets take over. At the FFT, half past selber schuld present the best films from the international 48 hours puppetry film project: Miniaturen am Limit (Miniatures at their limit) – shot, edited and finished within two days. What will this now yield? Everything. Stop motion meets craft excess, grand emotions meet shaky scenery, precise ideas encounter productive insanity. Figures, objects and materials direct – or they slip away from it. Between fast improvisation and surprising exactness, the films show what happens when decisions must be made under heavy time pressure. The audience does not only watch, but they also join in the thinking, the laughs, the doubt. Alex U. Griffin (USA) will open the evening.

The challenge will be presented by Heather Henson’s Green Feather Foundation (USA) and Griffin Eye Productions (USA) in cooperation with the Celluloid Golem Puppet Art Festival (GER).

The 2ND CELLULOID GOLEM PUPPET ART FESTIVAL is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Cultural Office of the City of Düsseldorf, the Düsseldorf Community Foundation, and the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf donation platform.
